Measurement
Proper
helmet fit is a vital component to the performance of a helmet should
an impact take place. In order to perform properly a helmet should not
fit too tight or too loose, but in a snug manner. Naturally, it should
be secured to your head with the neck or chin strap and be adjusted to
the proper manner of tightness, but still being comfortable.
IMPORTANT: Here is the correct
way to take the proper measurement. Using a cloth measuring tape, place
it 1" above the eyebrows surrounding the circumference of the head.
Holding the front secure at the eyebrows, the person taking the
measurements should move the tape measure up and down in a SNUG manner
to get the correct reading. NO NOT try using a metal tape measure or
string to take any measurements. This is totally incorrect manner to
get a proper and safe fit. We would suggest you take the measurement
twice just to double check so you are sure your measurements are
correct.
NOTE: If you are stepping up in quality to a Bell Helmet,
never use your old helmet sizing. Brands do not at all fit alike, so
new measurements are essential. Please remember, if you find yourself
in between sizes, you can not wear a helmet that is too small. Slightly
big is better.
